PMQs: PRIME MINISTER RUNNING SCARED OF NO CONFIDENCE MOTION

Ian Blackford MP has accused the Prime Minister of running scared of defeat in Parliament by denying time to a motion of no confidence in the UK government.

Yesterday, alongside other opposition party leaders, the SNP tabled a motion of no confidence in the UK Government under the Fixed Term Parliaments Act - which Jeremy Corbyn had failed to do.

The SNP Westminster Leader also raised concerns from the British Chambers of Commerce, the CBI, the EEF, the Federation of Small Businesses and the Institute of Directors – who represent hundreds of thousands of businesses – who said today that their members are watching in horror at the actions of this UK government.

Commenting, Ian Blackford MP said:

“'Watching in horror' -  this Prime Minister and the Conservative Party are not fit for government.

"With 100 days left on the clock - this Government has failed businesses, it has failed members of this House and failed citizens right across the UK.

“The SNP will not stand by and watch this Prime Minster wreak our economy and rob our citizens of their rights.

“When the official opposition fails to step up - the real opposition to this Tory government will step in.

“The Prime Minister is now running scared and denying to give time to our motion for fear of the result.”
