MP on hand to support Helensburgh’s young artists.

Many artists have to wait years before they sell their first painting…indeed, if they ever do sell one.

Mr O’Hara made the purchase when he attended the first exhibition of work by  Helensburgh’s Junior Art Club last week (Friday 3rd August).

The club which is run from the Oak Tree Gallery in East King Street has been a great success and aims to not only bring out creative skills but gives the young people an insight into the exhibition art world where they can sell their paintings.

Mr O’Hara said afterwards

I was delighted to attend the exhibition by the Helensburgh’s Junior Art Club. I was amazed at the quality of the work on display and I couldn’t believe it was all done by such young children. To be honest, despite the standard of painting,  I had no intention of buying anything but when I saw Lola’s painting of a ballet dancer, I immediately loved it. Following some tough negotiations, Lola and I agreed a price and her painting will adorn in my office when I return to Westminster. It was a great pleasure meeting the young artists who were on hand to speak about their work and I would not be surprised if we hear an awful lot more about these young artists in the future”.

Art tutor and artist in her own right, Karlyn Marshall added,

I am fortunate to have youngsters in my art classes who are keen to learn about art and have great potential as artists of the future.  I was so proud of them all on the opening night of their first exhibition and particularly pleased for Lola on her first art sale.  If you would like to join us in one of the classes you can book at karlynsclasses.com.”
