The SNP has called on Labour MSP Jenny Marra to publicly retract her “baseless smears” on the NHS – after it was revealed by NHS Tayside that her claims about the ending of the former Chief Executive’s contract were utterly false. The SNP has now challenged Ms Marra to set out on what basis she made the unfounded claims.

Jenny Marra made the claims on the BBC earlier this week – but NHS Tayside, who confirmed at the time that it was categorically untrue, have now revealed that her claim about a £300,000 pay off was wildly off the mark, with the actual termination package being less than a third of what Ms Marra claimed, all of it contractual and statutory.
The Labour MSP now faces calls to retract her baseless smears on the NHS in Tayside and the Scottish Government – and to set out on what information she made her claim.
Commenting, SNP MSP Sandra White, who sits on Holyrood’s Health Committee, said:
“Jenna Marra must now retract these utterly bogus and baseless claims after the health board has proven them to be utterly false.
“We are used to this sort of thing from Labour, as they continually seek to mislead when it comes to the NHS in Scotland.
“But Ms Marra’s claims aren’t just wrong and misleading, they are wildly off the mark – and it appears to be a deliberate attempt to undermine our health service.

“People have legal entitlements and the NHS simply cannot refuse to make those payments, but as Tayside has said throughout there has been no “payoff” or golden goodbye as Ms Marra claimed.
“Jenny Mara must now apologise and publicly retract her baseless claims – as well as setting out on what basis she made them.”
