SNP MP and Deputy Westminster leader Kirsty Blackman has said that  Ruth Davidson has her 'head firmly in the sand’ on the Westminster power grab. The comments come as the Scottish Tory leader  addressed a think tank in London today on the future of the union.

The event is held as the Scottish National Party have been joined by the Labour Party, the Greens and the Lib Dems in the Scottish Parliament who all voted to refuse consent to the Tory government’s Brexit plans last week, leaving Ruth Davidson completely isolated.
The rejection of the Bill by the Scottish Parliament means the UK Government must now act to make changes to secure Holyrood’s consent before the EU Withdrawal Bill is passed by the Commons.
Kirsty Blackman MP said :
'’The Tories think they can do whatever they want to Scotland and get away with it – but this speech shows that Ruth Davidson has her head firmly in the sand. It is her Tory bosses at Westminster who are pushing ahead with a power grab that leaves her completely isolated in Scotland.
“All the other parties in the Scottish Parliament have united to oppose the Tories. It is Ruth Davidson’s party and her government who are doing this damage – no one else – and she cannot hide from that.
‘’At every opportunity she has let her Westminster bosses call the shots, as they try to force through the most damaging Brexit possible against Scotland’s democratic will.
“And while the anti-independence politicians are reduced to arguing with each other about how to mitigate the immense economic damage that Brexit will cause, independence supporters are having a debate about the immense economic opportunities and hope that independence offers. The contrast could not be starker.”
