MP visits Argyll Rape Crisis Dunoon

Argyll & Bute MP Brendan O’Hara visited Argyll Rape Crisis last week to lend his support to the team who work with survivors of sexual violence and affected families and friends.

Argyll & Rape Crisis provide emotional and practical support services to people of all genders aged 12+ throughout Argyll & Bute, with offices in Dunoon, Campbeltown, Oban and Rothesay.  They also provide advocacy for survivors seeking medical attention through to engaging with Police and Court procedures and will support survivors whether they decide to report to Police or not.

Their youth project (TESSA) delivers interactive, age-appropriate prevention workshops in schools and youth clubs to give young people a safe place to discuss issues around sexting, boundaries, challenging sexualised behaviour and grooming (online and relationship).

Following the meeting Mr. O’Hara said,

“I was hugely impressed by the level of dedication, commitment, service and humanity which Argyll and Bute Rape Crisis provides and their work with youngsters to raise awareness of what constitutes appropriate behaviours.

I would urge anyone who is in need of their support, including those who have suffered historical abuse, to contact Argyll & Bute Rape Crisis ”
