As people from across the political spectrum announce their support for the party in the upcoming election, the SNP has made clear its position as the only party offering an escape from Brexit.

Stephen Gethins, the SNP candidate for North East Fife, has already been endorsed by former Lib Dem provost Frances Melville and former Green candidate Andy Collins, both recognising the SNP action to stop Brexit.

Last week former Labour MSP and Councillor Anne McTaggart joined the SNP Group on Glasgow City Council, claiming that "It’s now clear that independence is the only way forward for the people and the communities I’ve represented for over 10 years. It offers them the security and opportunity being eroded by Westminster."

Meanwhile, TV historian and former Tory adviser Bendor Grovenor this week said it was "time to destroy" the Tory party "so that people like Rees-Mogg and Bridgen can never be near power again" and that he would vote SNP and support independence.

Stephen Gethins said:

"In this election people in Scotland have a chance to escape from Brexit - and as Scotland's strongest remain party, it is no wonder that people from right across the political spectrum are backing the SNP to secure that aim.

“People from across the political spectrum recognise that a vote for the SNP is the only way to escape Brexit in Scotland. This election is a straight race between the SNP and the Tories - in every seat that the Tories hold, the SNP are second, and in a tight election the people of Scotland have a huge opportunity to lock Boris Johnson out of Downing Street.

"Even many moderate Tories recognise that there has been a hard-Brexit takeover of Downing Street which will be catastrophic for jobs and the economy in Scotland.

“Scotland did not vote for Brexit and the SNP has been at the forefront of the campaign to respect Scotland’s vote to Remain in the EU.

“If other parties want to deliver a Remain message in Scotland, they know they have to get behind the SNP. It’s time to escape Brexit, boot the Tories out of office and put the decision about Scotland’s future into our own hands - the only way to do this is by voting SNP.”

Re-elect Brendan O'Hara to represent Argyll & Bute

Re-elect Brendan O'Hara for Argyll & Bute on December 12th

In this General Election, we have the perfect opportunity to start shaping a new future for Scotland as an independent nation, within the European Union.

Like every other part of Scotland, Argyll & Bute voted overwhelmingly to remain in the European Union and that is a message I have delivered time and again to the Tories in Westminster. Yet despite the economic disaster that leaving the EU will mean for Argyll & Bute, Boris Johnson’s Tories are still determined to drag us out of Europe against our will.

An SNP victory here will tell Mr. Johnson that we reject his Tory hard-Brexit plan and that we are taking control of our own future.

Only with your financial help, however, can we ensure that every person behind every door in every town, in every village and on every island across this vast constituency gets to hear that positive SNP message of a new future for Scotland.

So please, give what you can. Any donation however small or large will make a real difference and help us secure a decisive win in Argyll & Bute and return Brendan to Westminster, to continue fighting for the people of Argyll & Bute and start building that new Scotland.

Thank you
