“WE’VE GOT YOUR BACK”: NICOLA STURGEON PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR EU NATIONALS AHEAD OF EURO POLL

Next week’s European election is our chance to make Scotland’s voice heard “loud and clear”, Nicola Sturgeon has said – as she pledged to support EU nationals living in Scotland.

The SNP leader was speaking ahead of a visit to the University of Glasgow, where she will hear how the university are supporting EU nationals and the role that EU staff and students play in ensuring a vibrant university experience.

Nicola Sturgeon said:

“This European election is our chance to make Scotland’s voice heard loud and clear.

“Three years on from the EU referendum we’re still no clearer as to what Brexit will look like – or whether it will even happen at all.

“That uncertainty is having a major impact on businesses, households and on EU nationals working and studying in Scotland. EU nationals should know – we’ve got your back.

“The fact these elections are even happening shows that Theresa May has lost control, her Government is in shambles and Tory divisions continue to deepen.

“Despite all this, Labour and the Tories are both committed to delivering Brexit. We need to send them a message.

“We need to put Scotland’s determination, and our strength of feeling, beyond any doubt.

“A vote for the SNP is a vote to make clear Scotland’s for Europe.”
