PMQs: THERESA MAY MUST GIVE DETAILS OF TRANSACTIONS BETWEEN DUP AND CONSERVATIVE-RUN CRC

LINKS TO CAMBRIDGE ANALYTICA RAISES QUESTIONS OF TRUST IN POLITICAL PROCESS

Ian Blackford MP has called on the Prime Minister to issue the full details of transactions between the DUP and the Conservative-run Constitutional Research Council (CRC), chaired by Richard Cook, former vice-chair of the Scottish Tories.

Before the EU referendum, the DUP received £425,000 from the CRC and some of it was given to Aggregate IQ, a reported franchise of Cambridge Analytica.

Whistleblower Chris Wylie told the UK Parliament yesterday that he was “absolutely convinced” of a common purpose between Vote Leave, BeLeave, Veterans for Britain and the DUP.

SNP MP Alan Brown also asked if the Prime Minister was comfortable that her Ministers have been caught red handed using immoral data mining practices.

The Foreign Secretary and Secretary for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs led the Vote Leave campaign. Their campaign director Dominic Cummings is quoted on the Aggregate IQ website - “Without a doubt, the Vote Leave campaign owes a great deal of its success to the work of AggregateIQ. We couldn’t have done it without them”.

Commenting, Ian Blackford MP said:

“The public must have trust in our political process.

“The shady business of data mining and undermining electoral laws goes right to the heart of the Prime Minister’s party.

“If the Prime Minister agrees with me that transparency in political campaign spending and the integrity of electoral laws across the UK must be upheld, she must issue the full details of the transactions between the DUP and the Scottish Tory linked CRC."

Alan Brown MP added:

“Theresa May’s own Ministers have questionable links to Cambridge Analytica via the Vote Leave campaign.

“The Prime Minister must commit to all allegations of improper spending during the EU referendum being fully investigated.”
