The SNP’s Stephen Gethins has called for fresh investigations into possible collusion between Vote Leave and campaign organisation BeLeave, which is linked to the operations of Cambridge Analytica.

This follows fresh claims in today’s Observer by Brexit campaigner Shahmir Sanni that the majority of a last minute £625,000 donation to Vote Leave was funnelled via the BeLeave campaign organisation into AggregateIQ, the company linked to Cambridge Analytica.
Questions are now being raised about how much Boris Johnson and Michael Gove, who headed the Vote Leave campaign, knew about these murky donations that may have breached strict electoral spending rules as well as electoral law prohibiting coordination between different campaign organisations.
This also raises fresh questions about the role of a secretive Scottish Tory-linked organisation, the Constitutional Research Council, which was responsible for a £425,000 donation to the DUP’s Brexit campaign. The original source of the donation has not been revealed. The DUP spent £32,000 during the Brexit referendum with the Canadian firm, AggregateIQ.

SNP MP Stephen Gethins said:

“Fresh investigations are needed into Vote Leave’s collaboration with BeLeave, the campaign organisation it allegedly shared an office with and is also reported to have funnelled money to AggregateIQ, which is linked to Cambridge Analytica.
“It appears that despite their claims to the contrary, there is now evidence of Vote Leave directing the activities of BeLeave, which would be a clear breach of the law if it is true.
“These new allegations raise very serious questions about our democracy and Michael Gove and Boris Johnson need to come clean about just how much they knew about the last minute Vote Leave donation that may have subverted electoral spending limits by somehow making its way to a company linked to Cambridge Analytica.
“This also shines a light on the role of the Scottish Tory-linked Constitutional Research Council in a shadowy donation to the DUP.

“Who funded both the Vote Leave donation and the Constitutional Research Council’s donation to the DUP, and why is the source of this ‘dark money’ being kept a secret?

“What is the real relationship between AggregateIQ and Cambridge Analytica, what are their links to BeLeave and Vote Leave, and what did senior Tories know about all this?

"Vote Leave, lead by senior Tories, were grossly irresponsible in producing a referendum that was unclear on what leaving the EU actually meant, and it looks like their mistakes go much deeper than that.

“It’s no longer tenable for the Tories to stay silent about this – we need answers.”

“The Canadians were our back office. They built our software for us. They held our database. If AggregateIQ is involved then Cambridge Analytica is involved. And ifCambridge Analytica is involved, then Robert Mercer and Steve Bannon are involved.”

“we have made no secret of working with Cambridge. We created a huge SM machine that took the message to voters”

"We often have to engage a different entity with a different name" says senior CA bod. Did this happen in UK? I called AIQ half a dozen times today. Nobody picked up. Voice of the 'boss' - Zack Massingham - was on voicemail. Common for company that took £3.5m from Leave alone?
